This past week many of us experienced a disappointing outcome of the 2016 Presidential elections. If you’re like me, you’re feeling sleep deprived because you stayed up to witness the results roll in state by state. Your eyes were glued to the television as if you were participating in one of those mannequin challenges. Yet again, our government as we refer to as “the system” failed many of us, leaving us with a ton of unanswered questions.
While it still feels surreal, its reality. Donald Trump is the President-elect for the United States. Right now Social Media is saturated with sadness, anger and defeat. Hearts were broken and tons of emotions including rage and betrayal fills your newsfeeds of Facebook and twitter. Our loved ones are scared and feeling hopeless. How did this happen and why?
I'm jumping to conclusions and you probably are too, but we have to do our best to keep them under control. If your favorite candidate didn’t win the election, your mind may be churning with stories based on fears and judgments. However, there's no point in imagining the worst case scenario when it might never come to be.
Right now, people are looking for hope, and real answers that transcend politics. If we ever had the opportunity to proclaim a God who was bigger than what happens in Washington, DC, then this is our moment.
So no matter how happy, disappointed, nervous, or upset you may be right now, let’s remember that God is ultimately in charge, and only He holds the future.
Jesus is our savior, not our president. And for that, I am exceedingly joyful.
Be blessed and let’s ride this thing out together!
